At a time when humans are consuming our planet's resources at an alarming rate, awareness of sustainable lifestyles is becoming increasingly important. Our diet plays a central role in this, as the way we produce and consume food has profound impacts on the environment.

  • How can we care for the earth by living consciously in harmony with nature?
  • How can we conserve their precious resources every day?
  • How exactly are we at Tigogreen committed to this?

The Earth: Our Home and Our Responsibility

Our Earth is a unique planet, supporting life in unparalleled diversity. But this precious balance is under threat. Soil exploitation, industrial agriculture, and excessive consumption have led to an environmental crisis that we can only avert through deep awareness and respectful action.

Sustainable nutrition: A key to conserving resources

A sustainable diet means choosing and consuming foods that have as little impact on the planet as possible. This encompasses several aspects:

  1. Regionality and seasonality: Consuming regional and seasonal food significantly reduces the carbon footprint by avoiding long transport routes and energy-intensive storage. Furthermore, it supports local farmers and contributes to the preservation of agricultural diversity.

  2. Reducing meat consumption: Meat production is extremely resource-intensive. A plant-based diet, at least partially, can help reduce soil pollution and water waste. It also reduces greenhouse gas emissions.

  3. Organic farming: The use of pesticides and synthetic fertilizers not only harms the environment but also our health. Organically grown foods protect the soil, promote biodiversity, and are often more nutrient-rich.

  4. Preventing food waste: Millions of tons of food are wasted worldwide every year. Through more conscious shopping, proper storage, and creative use of leftovers, we can make a significant contribution to conserving resources.

Example: Sustainability on green tea plantations

Green tea plantations are an excellent example of sustainable agricultural practices. Organically managed green tea plantations use methods that protect the environment while delivering high-quality products. These plantations utilize:

  • Natural pest control: Instead of using chemical pesticides, organic tea plantations rely on natural pest control methods, such as introducing beneficial insects or planting companion plants that keep pests away.

  • Maintaining soil fertility: The use of compost and natural fertilizers maintains and even improves soil fertility. This promotes healthy plant growth and maintains soil productivity in the long term.

  • Water management: Efficient irrigation systems and water retention measures help to minimize water consumption and protect this valuable resource.

  • Social responsibility: Many organic tea plantations also place great emphasis on fair working conditions and supporting local communities. This not only promotes sustainable agriculture but also social justice.

  • Respect for nature: A fundamental attitude

A deep awareness of the connections in nature leads to a respectful approach to it.

This respect is expressed in various areas:

  • Preserving biodiversity: Species diversity is essential for stable ecosystems. By purchasing organic and fairly traded products, we support farming practices that promote biodiversity.

  • Soil protection: Healthy soils are the foundation for productive agriculture. Practices such as crop rotation, composting, and minimal use of chemicals contribute to soil health.

  • Reduce water consumption: Water is a vital resource. Making irrigation systems more efficient and reducing water consumption in everyday life helps conserve this precious resource.

Agriculture in harmony with the environment

Traditional agricultural practices that are in harmony with nature offer many solutions to today's challenges. Here are some proven approaches:

  • Permaculture: This method mimics natural ecosystems and aims to create agricultural systems that are sustainable and self-regulating.

  • Agroforestry: The integration of trees and shrubs into agricultural land promotes biodiversity, protects the soil, and improves the microclimate.

  • Regenerative agriculture: This practice aims to improve soil fertility, sequester carbon, and minimize environmental impact.

Raise and maintain awareness

Awareness of the environment and our diet must be raised and maintained at the individual and societal levels. Education plays a key role in this:

Education and awareness-raising: Schools, media and organisations should provide more information about the links between nutrition, agriculture and the environment.

Community initiatives: Projects such as community gardens, local markets, and food co-ops promote community awareness and knowledge sharing.

Policy measures: Governments can promote sustainable practices through laws and incentives, such as subsidies for organic farming or programs to reduce food waste.

A life in harmony with nature

A conscious life that protects the earth and its resources begins with each individual. Here are some practical tips that are easy to implement:

Conscious consumption: Consider the environmental impact of every product you buy. Buy only what you really need and choose sustainable alternatives.

Self-sufficiency: Having your own vegetable garden, even in a small space like a balcony, can not only provide fresh, healthy food but also raise awareness of the value of food.

Sharing and exchanging: Sharing and exchanging food and goods with neighbors and friends reduces consumption and strengthens the community.

Sustainability and environmental awareness at Tigogreen

Here are some details about our sustainable measures:

  1. Glass packaging:

The glass packaging for our Tigovit and Tigofem products was personally selected by founder Tanja Hohenester. We source the glass bottles from Austria, while the bamboo lids come from Italy. For our Tigoderm products, we use glass packaging from Germany.

  1. Green tea:

Our green tea extract is the only raw material we source from China, as it is of the highest quality there. The plantation is certified organic according to EU guidelines, and the extraction method is the purest available. The freshly harvested green tea leaves are extracted using only water, without solvents, to guarantee the highest purity of the green tea extract. Each batch is laboratory tested both on-site and here in Germany to ensure it contains no aluminum (which is often found in green tea extracts) or other contaminants.

  1. Refill packs:

We use Packiro's metallized bags for our refill packs. You can find more information here:Packiro Refill Packs.

We sell health and use natural raw materials. Therefore, with our sustainable approach, we also want to give something back to nature. We make every effort to reduce waste and have consciously decided against plastic containers. Our glass bottles offer a refill option, because our motto is:

“Refill instead of throwing away!”

Through these measures, we ensure that our products are not only high-quality, but also sustainable and environmentally friendly. Our commitment to sustainability is reflected in every aspect of our production.

conclusion

A deep awareness of our planet and a sustainable diet are essential steps to protecting the environment and living a respectful life in harmony with nature. By rethinking and adapting our eating habits, we contribute to preserving natural resources and leaving future generations a world worth living in. Every small step counts, and together we can make a big difference.
