Successfully launching a business with the best of green tea: Startup Valley Magazine recently interviewed Tanja Hohenester, CEO of Tahovital GmbH and founder of tigovit Green Tea Complex. Why did you decide to start a business

When I was diagnosed with fibroids and recommended immediate surgery and medication, I first decided to look for a herbal treatment option. I found a pilot study in which women affected by fibroids were successfully treated with green tea, specifically its active ingredient epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG). I began the experiment myself, and it was so successful that I enthusiastically wanted to raise awareness of green tea and its properties among modern people. How quickly we all resort to chemical remedies when nature provides us with alternative options without side effects.

What is the vision behind Tahovital?

My vision is to introduce modern Westerners to the Chinese tea tradition. Asians drink an average of 1.2 liters of green tea per day because they believe in its positive effects on well-being. Although Asians smoke more than Europeans, they suffer from heart problems and cancer less frequently. Studies suggest this could be due to their high consumption of green tea. Asians simply consume green tea daily and benefit from it. It's a habit I want to bring to our culture as well.
