In her profile on frauchefin.de, tigovit founder Tanja Hohenester talks about her beginnings as an entrepreneur, how every female founder can be successful, and how she discovered the power of green tea for herself. Frauchefin.de is a business blog aimed at women who are self-employed and entrepreneurs. The topics revolve around time management, organization, productivity, founding, and self-employment. Here's an excerpt:
Dear Tanja, how did you come to become self-employed?
What was the deciding factor in your decision? After an odyssey with doctors from childhood onwards due to my severe atopic dermatitis and early on seeking new ways to improve my health through alternative medicine, the discovery of green tea made me realize that I absolutely wanted to bring this important part of Asian culture to the West. I got my atopic dermatitis under control with Ayurveda and a colon cleanse. My fibroid, which was discovered incidentally a few years ago, was growing and needed to be surgically removed. And here, too, it was clear to me that there had to be a natural treatment.
I found a pilot study with women suffering from fibroids who were given green tea or its extract EGCG. All of the women reported improved well-being, less bleeding, and the fibroids stopped growing. That was a signal for me to try green tea. I was surprised by the results: my fibroid shrank, and I didn't have to take any medication or undergo surgery. It was a wow experience that launched my passion for green tea. After that, I wanted to give everyone the opportunity to benefit from green tea—and after intensive preparatory work, I developed tigovit green tea capsules.
What makes you and your business special?
The product is truly of the highest possible quality available on the market. It's no coincidence that tigovit was selected by the Charité Women's Hospital to participate in a fibroid study. I work closely with doctors and believe that there would have been no scientific interest in tigovit if it didn't demonstrate this high quality.
For me, it's the power and passion for the product combined with a clear focus on sustainability. Of course, I want to make my company even more successful, but not at the expense of quality. Cheaper ingredients and poorer processing would lower the price, but then I wouldn't stand behind the product. We only have one health and need to think carefully about what we consume. What good are foods or products that are loaded with toxins and slowly poison us?
I know that the local growers have been pesticide-free for decades because they are committed to sustainability and organic quality. And only such sustainable substances and materials are used for tigovit green tea capsules. You can read the entire interview here .
